Legacy giving fuels advancement

Many of the innovations in cancer research, treatment and care are thanks to charitable gifts from donor wills and estate plans. While many people often think of wills as being reserved for family members, they can also be a wonderful avenue for helping to shape the future of cancer care.

“Over the years, charitable gifts through wills have led to phenomenal improvements in care through knowledge gained by researchers in B.C.,” says Dr. Karen Gelmon, donor, senior scientist and medical oncologist, BC Cancer. “Treatments that were inconceivable a decade ago are now bringing new hope to people bravely facing cancer. That’s why I have made a gift to the BC Cancer Foundation in my will.”
